Governor Mutfwang urges northern Nigerian leaders to develop education
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, in Demsa, Adamawa State, Nigeria, urged leaders in the country’s north to prioritize education in order to address problems related to the almajiri system. According to him, expanding access to education is necessary for the region’s human and economic development.
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, Mutfwang spoke at the 70th birthday celebration of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha. The governor, who chaired the event, said that the problems of the almajiri system cannot be effectively overcome without a focused commitment by northern leaders to expand access to education.
Education and community development
According to Mutfwang, education is a key tool for strengthening peace, development and economic well-being. He stressed that communities will find it difficult to achieve sustainable development without investment in human capital.

The governor also noted the contribution of religious institutions to education and community development. He praised Mustapha’s funding for the construction of a library and administrative buildings at the Lutheran University of Nigeria in Demsa, calling it an investment in knowledge and human potential development.
Support for the university
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said that Mustapha used his own funds to support education rather than personal projects. He urged other successful natives of Adamawa State to follow this example by investing in education and human potential development initiatives.
Fintiri added that his administration has identified education as one of its priorities in combating poverty and security problems in the state. Mustapha explained that he built the university facilities to contribute to the development of education in Nigeria and described education as important for peace, unity and national development.
