Tomorrow, August 19, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, following the New Julian calendar, will observe the day of remembrance for the martyr Andrew Stratilates and his soldiers, who died for the Christian faith. On this day, believers commemorate their heroic deeds and pay tribute to the saint.

19, according to the new church calendar, believers honor the memory of the Holy Martyr Andrew Stratelates. He was a Roman military commander in the 4th century, during the reign of Emperor Maximian. Andrew was a brave military tribune who secretly believed in Christ. He gained great fame for his military achievements, but when his faith was revealed, he refused to offer sacrifice to idols.
According to tradition, Andrew, along with 2,593 soldiers who had also converted to Christianity, was brutally tortured and then executed. Before their death, they were baptized. At the site of their martyrdom, through the prayers of Andrew, a healing spring appeared, which became a source of healing for many people.
In folk tradition, this date is associated primarily with weather and natural omens.
