Imported goods may rise in price significantly amid prolonged Middle East crisis
The cost of importing Apple, Samsung, and Sony electronics, spare parts for European and American cars, as well as industrial equipment, could increase by 15-30% within the next two months due to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
This price hike is driven by changes in shipping routes caused by the collapse in the Strait of Hormuz: vessels are rerouted via Omani ports, and if the situation worsens, the route may detour around Africa entirely. Although these alternative routes have been used during past crises, they extend delivery times and raise transportation costs.
If tensions persist, the rise in import prices may become long-term, affecting global markets and consumers.
