India sends Nepal first batch of Bailey bridge components

India has handed over to Nepal the first batch of components for a 70-metre Bailey bridge, The Hindu International reports. These components are intended to help restore connectivity to the flood-hit Betrawati area in Nepal.

Handover of cargo in Hetauda

The cargo was handed over to Nepal's road department in Hetauda on Saturday, September 12, 2026. India's Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, announced the handover on social media platform X. According to him, India will deliver the next batches of components for this bridge in the coming days.

Assistance after the floods

India's Ministry of External Affairs also reported sending more than 130 tonnes of aid to Nepal. India deployed 54 specialists to support search-and-rescue, humanitarian and forensic operations. The aid and specialists were sent to support Nepal after the floods.
