Prominent athlete testifies at Alan Jones trial in Sydney, Australia
In Sydney, Australia, a prominent athlete, referred to in court materials as Complainant M, is giving evidence in the criminal proceedings against broadcaster Alan Jones. The hearing is being held behind closed doors at the New South Wales Local Court.
As ABC News Australia reports, the athlete decided to remain in the same courtroom as Jones while giving evidence. Media representatives authorized by the judge may follow the testimony via video link from another room.
Complainant's allegations
Complainant M alleges that Jones kissed him without his consent at an event in 2015 and later sent a text message referring to the alleged kiss. According to the complainant, on another occasion between December 2018 and October 2020, Jones allegedly kissed him and pressed his genitals against him at Jones's apartment in the Circular Quay area.

Charges
During its opening address, the prosecution said that Jones sent the athlete flowers every week for a year and regularly sent him messages expressing affection. In connection with Complainant M's complaint, Jones faces one charge of indecent assault and one charge of sexual touching.
In total, Jones faces 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching in these proceedings. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
