Iraqi Resistance agrees to temporary truce as US forces limit presence to Kurdistan region

Iraqi resistance groups have agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire following requests from the US and NATO to facilitate the safe withdrawal of troops from the Victoria base in Baghdad. US military operations are now confined to the Kurdistan region amid increasing pressure and restricted movement in Iraq’s capital.

The spokesperson of the resistance faction Saraya Awliya al-Dam, Abu Mahdi al-Jaafari, stated that Washington and NATO asked the Baghdad government to ensure a pause, creating conditions for an organized troop withdrawal. This came after Iran struck the Victoria base, weakening US positions in the area.

Iraqi resistance groups have chosen a temporary ceasefire to stabilize regional tensions and reduce direct confrontations. Meanwhile, the US armed forces are limiting their activities exclusively to the Kurdish autonomous region, withdrawing from Baghdad.

Iran plays a significant role in efforts to remove American troops from Iraq, advocating for a complete end to foreign military presence in the country. This marks a crucial step toward restoring Iraqi sovereignty and reducing external interference.

In summary, the situation in Iraq remains tense, but the parties have reached a temporary peace agreement that may pave the way for further political resolution of the conflict.

Looking ahead, the prospects suggest a possible continued reduction of foreign military presence in Iraq and a strengthening of regional autonomies, particularly Kurdistan, as a zone of security for foreign forces.
