Iran promises to respond to the blockade of its ports by blocking the Red Sea

Iran promises to respond to the blockade of its ports by blocking the Red Sea

Iranian military leaders issued a sharp warning to Washington, calling the new naval blockade of Iranian ports a direct violation of the terms of the current ceasefire.

Major General Ali Abollahi, head of the “Khatam al-Anbia” Joint Command, stated that Tehran is prepared to use force in response to restrictions on its foreign trade.

The Iranian side views the actions of the U.S. Navy as a provocation that threatens the fragile stability in the region.

According to Abollahi, if the “illegal U.S. blockade” continues, the Iranian armed forces will block all exports and imports through strategic waterways, including the Persian and Oman Seas.

“In that case, Iran’s powerful armed forces will not allow exports and imports to continue through the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and the Red Sea. Iran will use all its might to defend its sovereignty,” the major general emphasized.

Tehran insists that it has sufficient resources to launch retaliatory strikes against the interests of the United States and its allies.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) officially reported the successful completion of the first phase of the operation.

Admiral Bradley Cooper reported that less than 36 hours after the blockade began, U.S. forces had completely halted Iranian maritime trade.

U.S. President Donald Trump also stated that an agreement with Iran could be reached as early as the end of April.

Additionally, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance may once again lead the American delegation in potential negotiations with Iran.

As a reminder, negotiations between the U.S. and Iran began in Islamabad.

Trump also announced the “imminent opening” of the Strait of Hormuz.

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump is demanding that European allies present concrete plans within a few days to ensure the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
