Iran has threatened the U.S. with a devastating response to new sanctions — Reuters
Iran has threatened the United States with a military response should new sanctions be imposed. Tehran has stated that it is prepared to counter U.S. pressure on land, at sea, in the air, in cyberspace, and through air defense systems.
Major General Ali Abdolahi, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, stated that the Iranian military would deliver a “broad and decisive” response to any new threats.
“The Iranian Armed Forces will respond,” Abdolahi said, adding that Tehran may resort to “devastating, punitive, and destructive” measures.
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Washington would allegedly be unable to defeat Tehran in a direct military confrontation.
“We must develop plans to combat these unjust sanctions so that we can overcome them,” Ghalibaf said.
Earlier, the U.S. announced that it was preparing the toughest economic sanctions against Iran. Washington links these sanctions to pressure on the Iranian leadership and an effort to bring about a change in its policies.
