Iran has threatened to strike U.S. universities

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened to strike American universities in the Middle East.

According to The Times of Israel, Iran claims that U.S. and Israeli attacks allegedly damaged two universities, after which direct threats of “retaliation” were made.

The statement says that Washington must condemn the strikes by March 30, or else U.S. universities in the region will be at risk.

The IRGC also urged students and staff to stay away from campuses, warning of possible attacks.

This refers to American universities in the Persian Gulf countries, specifically branches in Qatar and the UAE.

Earlier, Iranian media reported damage to a university in Tehran as a result of the strikes, though no casualties were reported.

The situation indicates a further escalation of tensions between Iran, the U.S., and Israel.

Additionally, a Hezbollah journalist was killed in an Israeli strike.

Five people were wounded after an Iranian strike in Eshtaoli — Al Jazeera.

Iraq has closed its airspace until March 31 — Al Jazeera.

A strike on a vehicle in Lebanon claimed the lives of four people.
