Mobile internet and communications may be restricted in Primorye due to Putin's forum

Mobile internet and communications may be restricted in Primorye due to Putin's forum

During the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, in Russia’s Primorsky Krai, there may be disruptions to mobile and landline communications. Local authorities attribute these restrictions to “security measures.”

The Primorsky Krai Ministry of Digital Development and Communications has warned of possible outages or disruptions to mobile internet service, as well as reduced voice call quality and data transfer speeds. Residents are advised to carry cash in advance.

The restrictions may primarily affect areas near the forum’s main venue—the Far Eastern Federal University campus—as well as the main transportation routes leading to it. The forum itself is scheduled for September 1–4.

During this period, Russian authorities are also preparing large-scale restrictions on traffic, airspace use, and shipping. In particular, vessel traffic and mooring will be prohibited in a number of bays, and airspace over Vladivostok will be temporarily restricted within a 250-km radius.

As a reminder, the Orsk Oil Refinery in the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation has completely halted operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones.

Freight transportation costs are rising in Russia due to the strikes on the refinery, according to Reuters.

As a reminder, the Russian oil refinery “Orsknefteorgsintez” halted oil processing following a Ukrainian drone attack on August 11.
