Iran announced that it has agreed with Oman on a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz – Bloomberg

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghai stated that Tehran and Muscat are in the final stages of finalizing a joint statement on the resumption of shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, bilateral dialogue is moving forward, and the agreement will be concluded provided there are no obstacles from third parties.

The plan being developed aims to create safe corridors for the transport of energy resources through this strategic waterway, whose operations have been disrupted due to military and political escalation and hostilities involving the United States. 

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism the day before that an agreement would inevitably be reached. However, Iranian state television notes that signing the document with Oman does not automatically mean an immediate resumption of shipping traffic and depends on the next steps taken by other parties to the conflict.

Iran may secure a significant concession regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz as part of a potential peace agreement with the U.S. According to Reuters, the parties are discussing an option that would grant Tehran partial influence over one of the world’s most critical maritime routes.

The United States and Israel are holding consultations on potentially increasing pressure on Iran, specifically by blocking its land borders. This scenario is being considered as part of broader measures to limit Tehran’s capabilities.
