Iran has once again denied the existence of a secret nuclear facility on Mount Kolang
Iranian authorities have once again stated that there is no secret nuclear facility on Mount Kolang-Kuh in the central part of the country. This came after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to strike the area.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai emphasized that no nuclear activity is taking place at Kolang-Kuh. He also accused Washington of using this issue as a pretext to further escalate the situation.
“Washington’s obsessive focus on Kolang-Kuh, where no nuclear activity is taking place, is nothing more than a fabricated pretext for aggression, destruction, and sabotage,” Baghai wrote on X.
He also emphasized that, according to Tehran, Iran’s nuclear program is fully declared to the UN nuclear agency.
“Iran’s nuclear activities have been fully declared,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated.
The day before, Trump threatened that the U.S. could strike a site known as Pickaxe Mountain. He stated that U.S. forces could attack the area “very soon” and “very hard.”
“We will strike this area fairly soon and very powerfully,” Trump said.
At the same time, the U.S. president added that he does not usually announce targets in advance, but in this case, he said, Iran would allegedly be unable to do anything about it.
“They won’t be able to do anything about it,” he said.
As of now, the U.S. has not carried out the strike Trump referred to.
Mount Kolang has already been featured in the American media. In 2025, The Washington Post and The New York Times reported that Iran had allegedly accelerated construction of a secret underground nuclear facility in the area. Tehran denied these reports.
Mount Kolang is located near the Iranian nuclear facility in Natanz. In June 2025, the United States bombed this facility during a brief war with Iran.
