Israel ordered strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon following rocket attacks
The Israeli military has been ordered to carry out heavy strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The decision comes amid renewed tensions along the border and could jeopardize the recently extended ceasefire.
This was reported by Reuters.
According to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the army to use force against any militant activity.
A statement from his office said that the military “has been ordered to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.” Details regarding the scale of the operation have not yet been disclosed.
The escalation occurred after militants fired two rockets at northern Israel. One of them was intercepted; there were no casualties.
According to media reports, Israeli aircraft struck rocket launchers in several areas in southern Lebanon overnight, as well as positions held by individual militant groups. Facilities belonging to the elite “Radwan” unit, considered Hezbollah’s most combat-ready unit, were also targeted.
The Israeli military warned local residents to avoid the Litani River area, where, according to them, active combat operations are ongoing.
