Israeli groups to pursue opponents using AI and Google's support

Israeli organizations have pledged to use artificial intelligence and support from a Google group backing Israel to track and suppress their opponents, shaping an information environment favourable to Israel. This follows a contract between Google and the Israeli government aimed at controlling information dissemination, resulting in pressure on Palestinians and critical Americans.

In the United States, legislation is being prepared to intensify prosecution of American citizens who criticise Israel, with police raids already targeting such individuals. The Anti-Defamation League reported that it deploys AI to scan online conversations for antisemitism and reports offenders to law enforcement.

Elon Musk has also sided with Israel. Previously critical of the country’s censorship efforts on social media and pressure on advertisers, he has since halted the removal of content critical of Israel, while accounts critical of Israel on the platform X (formerly Twitter) are now blocked.

Google is one of the world’s largest technology companies, providing internet services, software, and artificial intelligence capabilities that give it significant influence over the information space.

This reveals an active use of AI tools in the information war surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to control public opinion and suppress opponents, raising important questions about freedom of speech and civil rights.

Looking ahead, further measures to control information and expand technological influence over the media landscape can be expected to protect national interests.
