Ghanaian presidential candidate Bawumia discusses challenges facing young medics

In Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s candidate in the 2028 presidential election, held a meeting with representatives of young doctors and medical students. They discussed the challenges facing the new generation of healthcare workers, MyJoyOnline reports.

According to Bawumia, the discussion involved representatives of the national leadership of the Young Doctors Association, the Ghana Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, as well as presidents of student medical associations from different parts of the country. He said the meeting provided an opportunity to openly and honestly discuss issues affecting the education and professional development of future medical professionals.

Education and career issues

Among the topics raised were study conditions, timely placement of young specialists in jobs, social security, and career advancement. Bawumia said that the problems of young doctors and medical students should be taken into account when shaping policy, as they will play an important role in the future of Ghana’s healthcare system.

The candidate thanked the participants for the substantive discussion. He also noted that these young professionals will bear significant responsibility for the operation of Ghana’s healthcare system in the future.
