Carlson apologized for supporting Trump — The Guardian

Conservative media personality Tucker Carlson made a sensational statement, publicly renouncing his long-standing support for the current head of state.

This was reported by The Guardian.

In a conversation with his brother Buckley on “The Tucker Carlson Show,” the journalist admitted that he feels the weight of responsibility for Trump’s return to power and the current policies of the Republican Party.

“You know, we’re going to agonize over this for a long time—I will. And I want to say that I’m sorry for misleading people. It was unintentional; that’s all I’ll say,” Carlson emphasized during the broadcast on April 21, 2026.

He added that all supporters of the U.S. president are complicit in the dramatic events unfolding in the country and around the world today. According to the podcaster, “you, me, and millions like us are the reason this is happening right now.”

The main catalyst for Carlson’s disillusionment was the large-scale U.S. military campaign in the Middle East.

He called the president’s stance on the war in Iran, which began in late February, “despicable on every level” and accused him of betraying his campaign promises.

According to the journalist, the U.S. president is acting “against his own will” and resembles a “slave to outside forces,” unable to make independent decisions.

Carlson emphasized that Trump was fully aware of the risks of starting a war but took this step anyway.

In addition to political differences, Carlson drew attention to the country’s leader’s attitude toward religion.

After the U.S. president criticized Pope Leo XIV for his calls for peace and published an AI-generated image of himself as Christ, the journalist questioned the politician’s spirituality.

“He mocks Jesus. He mocks Christianity… Could this be the Antichrist? Well, who knows? At least, that’s my conclusion,” Tucker Carlson stated, commenting on the president’s condescending remarks directed at the Vatican.
