Instagram head Adam Mosseri to testify in case against Meta
Instagram head Adam Mosseri, as Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters, is due to testify on Tuesday in a U.S. court case against Meta Platforms. The case examines whether the company designed Instagram and Facebook to be addictive for children without paying adequate attention to their safety.
The expected testimony by Mosseri was confirmed by the office of California Attorney General Rob Bonta.
Lawsuit by 29 states
The lawsuit against Meta was filed by 29 U.S. states. Mosseri is one of the central witnesses in the case, which experts call the largest legal test concerning the impact of social media on young users.

Plaintiffs' allegations
California, Colorado, Kentucky, and New Jersey accuse Meta of designing its platforms to attract young users. According to these states, this contributed to anxiety, depression, and even suicides, while the company simultaneously misled consumers about the safety of its services.
All 29 states also claim that Meta violated federal law by improperly collecting and using the personal data of children under the age of 13 who used its platforms. This is the plaintiffs' position in the court case.
