Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is in India, said that her press conferences and meetings with colleagues from the Awami League party were not intended to harm relations between India and Bangladesh.

Right to meetings and press conferences

In an interview with The Hindu International, Hasina defended her right to hold press conferences and meet with representatives of her party while staying in India. She also said that she does not consider herself influential enough for her press conference to damage bilateral relations.

Intention to return

The former head of government said that she has not abandoned her intention to return to Bangladesh, which she had announced earlier. According to her, she is ready to resign if her party makes such a decision.

According to The Hindu, Hasina was convicted of murder in Bangladesh and sentenced to death. The interview included the politician's written answers and an extensive telephone conversation with her.
