Heilongjiang develops exports of rice, soybeans and livestock products
China’s Heilongjiang Province is developing exports of rice, soybeans and livestock products by using local agricultural resources. According to ECNS, the province’s foreign trade volume reached 171.24 billion yuan, or about $23.8 billion, in the first half of 2026. This is 7.2% higher than in the same period last year and a record figure for the first half of the year.
Angus breeding
A large Angus cattle breeding base designed for 10,000 head is being built in Sunwu County. This year, more than 4,000 breeding Angus cattle from Australia were delivered to the farm. Each animal was tagged for tracking and breeding work.
According to Wu Xiaoyun, brand director of Heizun Beef (Heilongjiang) Industry Management Group, the company first imported about 3,000 purebred Angus cattle from Australia in 2016.

Rice, soybeans and goose feathers
Shengchang Seed Breeding Co., Ltd. from the city of Suihua planted more than 666,000 hectares in the province with its own rice varieties this year. The rice is supplied to Russia’s Amur Region, Mongolia and Laos.
In the city of Bei’an, local soybeans are processed for export. Goose farming in Heilongjiang is also developing from poultry raising to feather processing for badminton shuttlecocks. Annual production capacity amounts to 6 million shuttlecocks, some of which are exported to the Republic of Korea.
Russian soybeans, oats and confectionery products are traded at the border trade center of the Heihe Pilot Free Trade Zone. In the first half of 2026, Heihe’s border trade volume amounted to about 229 million yuan, or approximately $31.8 million. Construction of a cross-border cable car is also ongoing, with trial operation planned by the end of the year.
