Croatia has been hit by a severe snowstorm with a red alert

Croatia's State Hydrometeorological Institute has issued the highest level of weather warning for three regions of the country due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions. A snowstorm and strong winds have disrupted traffic, particularly for trucks, on routes between inland areas and the Adriatic coast.

Večernji list reports this.

In coastal areas, wind gusts are reaching hurricane force, posing a critical danger to travel across bridges and open stretches of road.

Emergency services are urging citizens to refrain from traveling unless absolutely necessary. Drivers who do take to the road are reminded to ensure they have complete winter equipment and to exercise caution when driving in conditions of limited visibility. Work is currently underway to clear major highways, but storm-force winds are hindering the rapid restoration of stable traffic flow. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure a timely response to potential emergencies in the affected areas.

On the night of February 14, in the Italian region of Salento, a natural rock formation known as the “Lovers’ Arch” collapsed due to a powerful storm and torrential rains

Storm “Nils” also left hundreds of thousands of homes without power in southern France.
