Madyar summed up the results of the negotiations with the European Commission
Hungary’s incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar has announced his government’s readiness to engage in constructive cooperation with Brussels.
The main goal of the new political consultations is to unblock EU financial resources that were frozen due to the controversial policies of the country’s previous leadership.
The first technical talks between representatives of the European Commission and the team of the parliamentary election winner took place in Budapest on April 17–18.
Mátyás described these meetings as extremely important for restoring trust between Hungary and European institutions.
“At the start of the negotiations, I informed our partners of the Tisza Party’s commitments to the Hungarian people: anti-corruption measures, Hungary’s accession to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the restoration of the independence and freedom of the judiciary, the press, and higher education,” noted Péter Magyar.
The leader of the Tisza Party emphasized that the top priority of his Cabinet will be to correct the legal shortcomings that led to the country’s financial isolation.
He stressed that the Hungarian people should not be held responsible for the mistakes of past years.
“The consequences of the previous government’s mistakes will not disappear overnight. But we are not looking for excuses—we are looking for solutions. We have taken the first steps in the right direction,” added the future head of the Hungarian government.
