Houthis attacked Saudi Arabia with two missiles and drones — Reuters

The Yemeni coalition led by Saudi Arabia reported on Saturday morning that it had intercepted two ballistic missiles and two drones. According to the coalition, they were launched by the Iran-backed Houthis toward the kingdom’s territory.

According to the coalition, the missiles were headed toward the city of Khamis Mushait, while the drones were headed toward the capital, Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense issued warnings overnight for Khamis Mushait and the city of Abha, but no warning was issued for Riyadh.

A few hours earlier, military leaders from Saudi Arabia and its defense allies, Pakistan and Turkey, met in Riyadh to discuss the threats facing the kingdom.

Last month, these three countries signed the “Joint Agreement on the Defense of Mecca,” stating that they would consider an armed attack on any one of them an attack on all. The parties noted that the agreement aims to strengthen collective deterrence and military cooperation.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman, announced Saturday morning that an agreement had been reached in RiyadhRiyadh with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir to continue joint efforts to counter attacks on the kingdom in accordance with the agreement.

The Houthis, who control Yemen’s most populous areas and a significant portion of the country’s north, have been launching attacks on Saudi Arabia since July, when they declared a naval blockade of Riyadh, striking Saudi ships in the Red Sea.
