Kim Jong Un expresses condolences to China and Nepal over floods
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday sent messages of condolence to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nepalese President Ram Chandra Paudel over devastating floods and landslides in the Himalayan region.

As The Korea Herald reports, in his message to Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un expressed his “deepest condolences” to the Chinese leader, the Communist Party and government of China, the country’s people, those affected and the families of the deceased.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), he also expressed hope that the consequences of the natural disaster would be eliminated as soon as possible and that residents of the affected areas would return to peaceful and stable lives.

Losses caused by the disaster
According to foreign media, as of Friday, more than 500 people had died in China and Nepal as a result of large-scale floods and landslides. More than 1,500 others were considered missing.
Floods and landslides struck the Himalayan region bordering China on Wednesday. In a separate report, KCNA said that Kim Jong Un expressed “sincere condolences and sympathy” to the Nepalese government and people, as well as those affected and the families of the deceased, over the dead and missing.
