China to open services market to South Korea
China and South Korea have resumed talks to expand their free trade agreement, aiming to go beyond industrial sectors and develop cooperation in services, investment and finance. This development followed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Seoul in October, his first in 11 years.

Analysts suggest Beijing might offer Seoul partial access to its closed services market if South Korean authorities continue to avoid openly supporting Taiwan. Earlier in December, South Korea listed Taiwan on electronic migration cards as "China (Taiwan)." This approach contrasts with statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, which sparked a diplomatic dispute.
This move could strengthen economic ties between China and South Korea, although cultural sectors such as music may remain less accessible, with successes like Blackpink and the departure of Ayumi Hamasaki likely to stay in the spotlight.
