China launches Chengdu–Addis Ababa cargo air route
A regular cargo air route between China's Chengdu and Addis Ababa was launched on August 28. Ethiopian Airlines flight ET3005 arrived at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport that day.
Flights twice a week
The route currently operates twice a week, with plans to increase flight frequency in line with demand. According to ECNS, this is the first regular cargo route to Africa opened after China introduced a comprehensive zero-tariff regime for all 53 African countries with which it maintains diplomatic relations.

What cargoes will be transported
This route will primarily deliver African agricultural and livestock products to China. The declared goods include coffee, fresh flowers, fruit, vegetables, beef and lamb.
In the opposite direction, high-value Chinese goods will be transported, including new energy vehicles, photovoltaic equipment and lithium batteries. Tang Ruibo, Ethiopian Airlines' general manager in China, said that the hub in Addis Ababa would enable the efficient distribution of cargo from Chengdu to Lagos, Accra, Dakar and Entebbe.
