China condemned the attempt on Trump's life

China has responded to the shooting incident that occurred during an event attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, condemning the violence.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian noted that Beijing is closely monitoring the situation.

According to him, China consistently opposes any acts of unlawful violence and condemns such actions.

The incident occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where an assassination attempt was made on the U.S. president.

Donald Trump is expected to visit China in the near future—a trip to Beijing is scheduled for mid-May, where he is set to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

U.S. authorities have identified the suspect in the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump. He is 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen of Torrance, California.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that law enforcement had detained the shooter following the shooting incident during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, which he was attending.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump canceled the American delegation’s visit to Pakistan, where talks with Iran were to take place.
