North Korea and Russia are planning long-term military cooperation through 2031
North Korea has announced its intention to continue providing comprehensive support for Russia’s policies and to develop military cooperation on a long-term basis through 2031.
This was revealed during a meeting between North Korean leaders and a Russian military delegation in Pyongyang, Reuters reports.
During the talks, DPRK leader Kim Jong Un emphasized the strengthening of military ties with Moscow and stated that Pyongyang would continue to support Russia’s “security interests.”
The parties agreed to put military cooperation on a stable, long-term footing and to prepare a cooperation plan for the period from 2027 to 2031.
The visit by the Russian delegation, led by the Russian Defense Minister, coincided with the opening of a memorial to North Korean soldiers who died during combat operations in the Kursk region.
Kim Jong Un called the fallen “symbols of sacrifice” and stated that their participation in the conflicts, in his words, allegedly “thwarted the hegemonic plans of the U.S. and the West.”
Statements from both sides underscore the further deepening of the political and military alliance between Pyongyang and Moscow.
Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev made a working visit to North Korea, where talks with the country’s leadership are scheduled.
The state news agency of the aggressor country, TASS, and the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) signed an agreement on strategic cooperation, which provides for the exchange of information and delegations.
