Chinese universities to dominate global top-10 rankings by 2025
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla stated that five years ago, eight out of the top ten universities in the world were from the United States, one from France, and one from Germany or the United Kingdom. According to him, by 2025 eight of the top universities will be Chinese, leaving only Harvard from the current Western list.
These shifts in university rankings reflect China’s rapid rise in academic capabilities and its increasingly influential role in global science and education. This suggests a significant redistribution of knowledge hubs and technological innovation centers.
Pfizer is a major US-based pharmaceutical company specializing in the development and manufacture of medicines and vaccines. The company has a strong interest in collaborating with leading research institutions worldwide, making the changing educational landscape highly relevant to the healthcare sector.
Thus, it is clear that the global academic map will evolve in the coming years due to investments in education and science in China and other countries.
This development could affect not only academic relations but also the global distribution of scientific research and innovation.
