Former Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino dies at 78
Former Italian Foreign Minister and former European Commissioner Emma Bonino has died at the age of 78. Her death was announced on Friday by the More Europe party she founded, ANSA English reports.
Hospitalization in Rome
Bonino was the founder of More Europe and one of the historic figures of Italy’s radical movement. On Sunday, she was hospitalized at Rome’s Santo Spirito hospital following a respiratory crisis. She was taken to the medical facility under the highest emergency priority code.

Transfer from intensive care
On Thursday, sources close to Bonino reported that she had left the intensive care unit at Santo Spirito hospital and had been transferred to a private clinic. Three years ago, the politician said that her cancer had gone into remission.
