Estonia’s elected president offers Paavo Nõgene post as head of the Office of the President
In Estonia, elected President Ülle Madise has offered Paavo Nõgene the position of director of the Office of the President. ERR News reports.
Experience in the public sector and business
Madise said that Nõgene’s experience as the head of a public institution, secretary general of the Ministry of Culture, and CEO of the international company Tallink Grupp should be useful in serving the Estonian state. According to her, this should help make Estonia a better place to live, work and do business.
Nõgene called serving the Estonian state a great honor. He noted that in all his previous professional roles, he had sought to contribute to society beyond the scope of a specific position. He described organizing the work of the president of the republic and participating in Estonia’s development in the new role as a continuation of his previous activities.

Nõgene’s previous positions
Nõgene chaired the management board of Tallink from 2018 to 2026. Earlier, from 2013 to 2018, he was secretary general of Estonia’s Ministry of Culture, and from 2007 to 2012 he headed the Vanemuine theatre.
Nõgene also serves on the supervisory boards of the Estonian Public Broadcasting ERR, the Art Museum of Estonia and the Estonian Drama Theatre. Ülle Madise is to take office as president in October.
