Guterres discusses Middle East and Ukraine conflicts with Modi
UN Secretary-General António Guterres held a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, India, on September 11. It took place on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit, which India is hosting on September 12–13.

According to The Hindu International, the sides held a broad discussion on the current conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. The Office of the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General said in a statement that Guterres and Modi also considered the impact of both conflicts on the global economy, including access to food and fertilizers.

Cooperation with the UN
The report also noted that Guterres reaffirmed the principle of freedom of navigation. The UN Secretary-General praised India’s close cooperation with the United Nations. In a photo published alongside the report, Guterres and Modi shake hands during the bilateral meeting in New Delhi.
