Police officer suspended in Ghana over death of law student
In Ghana, police have suspended General Corporal Robert Koranteng from duty in connection with the death of 23-year-old Central University law student Ivan Baidoo. The incident occurred on the Tema Motorway on August 27, 2026.
Initial investigation
According to MyJoyOnline, the suspension was preceded by initial investigative actions concerning a video of the incident that was shared online. In a statement dated September 12, police said that the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department is intensifying its work to establish all circumstances surrounding Baidoo's death.

Internal review
The Police Professional Standards Bureau was also instructed to review Robert Koranteng's actions in connection with the incident. Police noted that the criminal and internal investigations are ongoing, and further measures will be determined based on their results.
Law enforcement officials said they are thoroughly investigating the case and urged the public to allow the relevant investigative procedures to be completed.
