"The conference in Gdańsk will take place no matter who tries to disrupt our work," said Tusk

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced extensive preparations for the fifth Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026), which will take place on June 25–26 in Gdańsk

According to him, during the international forum, Polish and Ukrainian companies will sign two hundred important agreements and contracts

At the same time, the head of the Polish government emphasized that the Cabinet of Ministers is actively working to minimize the negative consequences and losses resulting from the recent high-profile decisions by the presidents of both countries—Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Karol Nawrocki.

“We have prepared 200 agreements and contracts that will be signed in Gdańsk between Polish and Ukrainian companies… Regardless of who is sabotaging our work in Warsaw and Kyiv—the conference in Gdańsk will take place, and we will do our job,” Donald Tusk was quoted as saying by the Prime Minister’s Office on social media platform X.

At the start of the Polish Council of Ministers meeting, the official emphasized the seriousness of the current situation. He added that the government is carefully analyzing the current challenges and does not intend to give in to emotions that could harm strategic cooperation.

The head of government called for a focus on the shared future of both neighboring nations and for maintaining a strong economic foundation.

“We have been working for many hours to minimize the costs and losses resulting from the decisions of the presidents of Ukraine and Poland,” the prime minister said.

“I am aware of public sentiment. The whole world was impressed by the self-sacrifice and openness of the Polish people, who provided assistance to hundreds of thousands of refugees… I understand these sentiments, but given Poland’s strategic security, I will not contribute to fueling these tensions. It is in Poland’s long-term interest to build relations with Ukraine based on a vision for the future,” Tusk added.

The URC 2026 international conference aims to mobilize global support, attract major private investment, and plan in detail the key stages of rebuilding Ukraine’s infrastructure.

This event is being jointly organized by the governments of the two countries, continuing a series of similar high-level forums previously hosted by Lugano, London, Berlin, and Rome.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko will lead the official Ukrainian delegation in Gdańsk.

According to her, the Ukrainian delegation—which will include leaders of state-owned companies, government officials, parliamentarians, and community representatives—has a clear mission: to reach ironclad agreements to strengthen the defense sector and ensure energy resilience.

Diplomatic tensions escalated on the eve of the summit after Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Department at the President’s Office, stated that Polish leader Karol Nawrocki would not participate in the meetings because he had not received an official invitation.
