Congressman Tiffany swam to shore after plane made emergency landing in US lake
Republican Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany and the pilot swam to shallow water after a light aircraft made an emergency landing on Lake Wausau in the United States. This was reported by Asharq Al-Awsat, citing a statement by the politician.
The plane lost power
According to Tiffany, the incident occurred late Saturday evening as he was returning from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner event. The light aircraft lost power while approaching Wausau Downtown Airport, after which the pilot made an emergency water landing on Lake Wausau.
Tiffany wrote on X that after landing, they called 911. When the plane began to sink into the water, the congressman and the pilot exited it, swam to shallow water and waited for rescuers, who arrived by boat.

Minor injuries
Rescuers took Tiffany and the pilot to the nearest hospital, where they received treatment for minor injuries. Tiffany is running for governor of Wisconsin as a Republican; his candidacy was endorsed by US President Donald Trump.
The congressman was flying in a single-engine, four-seat Bonanza aircraft.
