The Ukrainian Consulate has asked Polish authorities to urgently track down the attackers who assaulted Ukrainians in Wrocław
On July 27, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Wrocław contacted the Polish National Police regarding a new incident involving an attack on Ukrainian citizens.
According to reports circulating on social media and in the media, a Ukrainian woman and her boyfriend were attacked in Wrocław because of their Ukrainian accents. According to the victim’s mother, her daughter sustained serious injuries.
“My daughter suffered serious injuries. Doctors are currently stitching up her neck. She and her boyfriend are suspected of having concussions,” the woman reported on Threads.
The consulate stated that it is concerned about the rising number of cases of violence against Ukrainians in Poland. Diplomats emphasized that every such incident requires a thorough investigation, the determination of the motives behind the crime, and an appropriate legal assessment, as manifestations of xenophobia and hatred are unacceptable.
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga instructed diplomats to respond to the incident without delay. In this regard, the Consulate General has sent an official request to Polish law enforcement authorities and is awaiting confirmation of the circumstances of the incident and information on the progress of the investigation.
“If the circumstances described are confirmed, we expect a comprehensive, objective, and prompt investigation, the determination of the motives behind the act, and the prosecution of those responsible in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Poland,” the diplomatic mission emphasized.
The Consulate also urged Ukrainian citizens who were affected by this incident or who have information about it to contact the diplomatic mission to receive consular assistance and support in interacting with Polish law enforcement agencies.

As a reminder, a Ukrainian couple was brutally beaten in Wrocław, Poland. According to the victim’s mother, the attack occurred after the assailants heard Ukrainian being spoken in a store. Both victims sustained serious injuries; medical professionals suspect they may have suffered concussions.
On May 21, a new 60-day extension of temporary restrictions on applying for international protection at the border with Belarus went into effect in Poland. These restrictions limit migrants’ right to apply for international protection while crossing the Polish-Belarusian border. The country’s authorities have once again extended these measures.
