Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has been hospitalized due to heart problems

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, 86, was admitted to Rigshospitalet due to angina. According to a statement from the royal household, Her Majesty will remain under medical supervision over the weekend for further examinations. Despite her hospitalization and fatigue, the queen is in good spirits but requires inpatient monitoring due to her advanced age.

This is stated in an official statement from the palace.

In recent years, Margrethe II’s health has repeatedly required medical intervention. In 2023, she underwent a complex back surgery, and last spring she was hospitalized due to complications from a cold. The Royal Court has promised to release an update on the monarch’s condition immediately after the completion of the scheduled diagnostic tests.

This incident occurred shortly after the celebration of her 86th birthday on April 16. Currently, all official events involving the queen have been postponed until she is discharged and has regained her strength. Doctors assess her condition as stable but require complete rest for her cardiovascular system.

On her doctors’ advice, Margrethe II has decided to quit smoking, a habit she began at age 17.

Earlier, Queen Margrethe of Denmark was hospitalized after a fall at Fredensborg Castle.
