Every fourth patient in Germany waits over a month for a doctor’s appointment

In Germany, a significant number of patients with public health insurance wait more than a month to see a doctor, leading to growing dissatisfaction. According to a survey conducted by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds, every fourth patient faces such prolonged waiting times.

About one third of respondents stated that the waiting period has become too long. Additionally, 10% of those surveyed waited over three months to see the necessary specialist. These figures highlight challenges in accessing healthcare for publicly insured patients.

This situation may erode public trust in the healthcare system and affect the quality of medical services. Efforts to address the issue of long waiting times are likely to be pursued at policy and administrative levels.
