The Kremlin has canceled the main naval parade in St. Petersburg for the second year in a row

Russian authorities have decided not to hold the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg, which traditionally takes place in late July.

To date, the relevant decree by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has not been signed, and naval units have not received any directives regarding preparations for the large-scale event

Russian officers unofficially acknowledge that holding such ceremonial parades is currently impossible due to the complex situation on the front lines and regular successful strikes on military bases.

The absence of any preparations for a large-scale equipment review is confirmed by sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Navy’s Main Command.

Normally, by this time of year, rehearsals for the ships in the Neva River would already be in full swing; however, this year the command does not even plan to deploy personnel or vessels to St. Petersburg.

This large-scale naval event is being completely canceled for the second year in a row amid significant losses to the aggressor country’s fleet.

Last year, the Russian leadership also unexpectedly halted all preparations several weeks before the scheduled date, without ever providing official reasons to its population.

The systematic scaling back of the celebrations began even earlier, when the military command was forced to completely abandon the naval portion of the parade near Kronstadt.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed an agreement on a three-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. The parties also agreed to a large-scale prisoner exchange mediated by the U.S.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree excluding Red Square from the plan for the use of Ukrainian weapons during the May 9 parade in Moscow. The document states that the decision was made “for humanitarian purposes” following negotiations with the American side.
