Navrotsky Will Not Convene the Security Council Following the Crash of a Russian Missile in Poland
Polish President Karol Nawrocki does not plan to convene a meeting of the National Security Council regarding the incident involving a Russian missile that fell on July 30 in Tarnów-Kolonia, Lublin Voivodeship. At the same time, the head of state expects a detailed report from the government on this situation.
According to him, the president wants to clarify the circumstances of the incident and learn about the measures taken following the violation of Polish airspace.
“Not every instance of a violation of Polish airspace by an unidentified object—in this case, a Russian missile—requires convening the National Security Council,” Leszkiewicz said.
He added that the most important thing for the president right now is to determine how the missile crossed the border, whether it was tracked by the relevant systems, and what conclusions the government will draw from this incident. Navrotsky’s spokesperson emphasized that Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz are responsible for the security of Polish airspace.
“Above all, the president expects reliable, detailed, very precise, and clear reports on what happened yesterday,” said Navrotsky’s spokesperson.
According to him, the Presidential Palace also wants answers regarding what changes were implemented following the incident last September, when Russian drones violated Polish airspace. At that time, Nawrocki convened the National Security Council and awaited recommendations on strengthening the air defense system.
