Kurds claim Iran attacked military personnel in Iraq, — Al Jazeera
Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region has accused Iran of attacking its Peshmerga forces. Six fighters were killed in the attack.
This is stated in a statement by the region’s Ministry of Armed Forces, according to Al Jazeera.
“As a result of two attacks, six Iranian ballistic missiles were fired at them,” the statement from the region’s Ministry of Defense said.
Six people were killed and 30 others were wounded in the incident.
This is the first deadly attack on regional security forces since the start of the war in the Middle East on February 28, when Israel and the U.S. launched strikes against Iran.
Earlier, Iraq strongly condemned the attack on the U.S. embassy in the capital. Authorities called the incident a terrorist act that violates the country’s sovereignty and international agreements.
