Lithuania has extended sanctions against Russians and Belarusians until 2027

The Lithuanian Seimas has decided to extend national sanctions against Russian and Belarusian citizens until the end of 2027.

This was reported by LRT.

95 Seimas members voted in favor of the extension, one voted against, and six abstained.

According to the government’s proposal, the same restrictive measures generally remain in place for citizens of Russia and Belarus, but one new provision is being introduced: a ban on importing more than 200 liters of fuel into Lithuania by vehicles from Russia and Belarus.

The law on restrictive measures, aimed at demonstrating support for Ukraine and limiting certain rights of citizens of the aggressor countries—Russia and Belarus—has been in effect in Lithuania since 2023.

Under this law, applications from Russians and Belarusians for both national and Schengen visas are no longer accepted, except in cases where the application is submitted by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Russian citizens are no longer issued residence permits in Lithuania unless they hold a valid visa or residence permit in an EU country.

The law prohibits Russian citizens who do not have a residence permit in Lithuania from purchasing real estate. Additionally, Russian citizens may lose their temporary residence permit in Lithuania if they visit Russia or Belarus more than once within the last three calendar months. An exception is made only for carriers and individuals traveling for objective reasons beyond their control.
