Lula criticized Trump and said he was playing the wrong game

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has sharply criticized Donald Trump's policies.

This was reported by EL PAÍS.

Lula said he was surprised by Trump’s arguments regarding the imposition of tariffs on Brazil and called them far from reality.

He also criticized the U.S. emphasis on military force, noting that such an approach is excessive.

“Two countries led by two 80-year-old gentlemen must have a very mature conversation,” said the Brazilian president.

Assessing Trump’s policies, Lula stated that Trump is “playing a very wrong game,” relying on the U.S.’s economic and military superiority.

According to him, such an approach could have negative consequences for the United States itself.

The Brazilian president also expressed concern about the rise of global conflicts and criticized the effectiveness of the UN Security Council.

Former Chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve Janet Yellen sharply criticized Donald Trump’s campaign to lower interest rates in order to reduce the cost of public debt, calling it the rhetoric of a banana republic. She emphasized the serious threat to the independence of monetary policy posed by such statements.

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it has no information regarding a possible exchange of letters between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump concerning arms supplies to Iran.
