Szijjártó appeared in public after the Hungarian elections and stated that he had not gone into hiding
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who had not appeared in public since the ruling party’s defeat in the elections, was spotted out for a jog.
This was reported by Telex.
Journalists encountered him in the city of Dunakeszi. According to them, Szijjártó was initially surprised by the attention but later stated that “it is now clear that he has not disappeared.”
During a brief conversation, he also denied the opposition’s accusations regarding the alleged destruction of documents and the transfer of information to Russia.
Szijjártó emphasized that his “conscience is clear” and that he did not pass on any data.
Earlier, opposition politicians claimed that documents might have been destroyed at the ministry after the elections, but the ministry denied this, explaining that the disposal of paper copies was due to technical reasons.
Despite Fidesz’s defeat in the elections, Szijjártó may enter parliament via the party list.
