Macron declared in Armenia that Russia had failed in the region

French President Emmanuel Macron noted the transformations in Armenia in recent years during a summit in Yerevan. He stated that the country is no longer perceived as a political “satellite” of Russia.

Panorama reported this on May 4.

“I believe that Nikol Pashinyan’s work in Armenia in recent years has been very impressive,” French President Emmanuel Macron said during a panel discussion at the 8th European Political Community Summit in Yerevan on May 4.

“Let’s be honest, eight years ago, no one would have come here. And the fact that there are so many visits to your country today is a good sign,” Macron said.

According to Macron, in the past, a number of countries viewed Armenia differently. “Eight years ago, many countries at this table viewed this country as a true satellite of Russia. Nikol Pashinyan led a velvet revolution and decided to protect his country from Russia. And because of this, he has faced and continues to face daily attacks,” the French president noted.

As a reminder, during a meeting in Yerevan, Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo that they strengthen their partnership by signing a “drone deal.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre during his visit to Yerevan. The head of state expressed gratitude for the significant support, particularly for contributions to the PURL program totaling nearly $1 billion.

Zelenskyy arrived in the Armenian capital, where the two-day European Political Community summit begins on May 3. A series of bilateral meetings with the prime ministers of the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Finland, and Norway is scheduled for the first day of the visit.

Zelenskyy will hold a bilateral meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the summit in Yerevan. Tusk announced this before departing for Armenia, where leaders from nearly fifty countries will gather.
