Marco Rubio Denies Rumors of Pressure on Cuban President

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio officially refuted widespread media reports claiming that the Trump administration attempted to pressure Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel to resign.

The official statement, published on the social media platform X, called such reports fabrications that do not reflect Washington’s actual political course.

According to Rubio, the United States has not engaged in any negotiations regarding the voluntary departure of the Cuban head of state.

Rubio emphasized that the sources providing this information to journalists are unreliable and manipulative.
“The reason so many American media outlets continue to spread such fake news is that they keep relying on charlatans and liars posing as informed sources,” Rubio wrote in his post.

He stressed that the administration, led by U.S. President Donald Trump, clearly distinguishes between verified facts and speculation.

The denial addressed reports claiming that the White House was allegedly seeking ways for a peaceful transfer of power on the island in exchange for certain guarantees. Known for his hardline stance on the Havana regime, Marco Rubio reiterated the uncompromising nature of current U.S. foreign policy.

It should be recalled that the U.S. State Department has ordered embassies to immediately assess security amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Additionally, Beijing will temporarily lift restrictions on Marco Rubio for participation in Trump’s visit.
