Marco Rubio announced progress in U.S. negotiations with Iran

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that concrete progress had been made in the negotiations with Iran, which involved mediators.

CNN reports this.

Speaking on March 26 ahead of his trip to the G7 ministerial meeting in France, he noted that the negotiations are complex and are taking place through third countries. Rubio declined to disclose details of the progress made, emphasizing the length and volatility of this diplomatic process.

The Secretary of State’s statement came amid reports from U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff regarding Tehran’s possible willingness to accept American conditions for ending the war. The U.S. administration suggests a shift in the Iranian leadership’s position, although direct contacts between the parties have not yet been confirmed. Coordination through intermediary countries has allowed for the transmission of key messages that have helped break the deadlock. Currently, official Washington continues to assess Iran’s concrete steps within the framework of the proposed peace plan.

Iran has sent an official response to the United States’ proposal, which outlined 15 points for ending the war. Tehran’s response was conveyed to the American side through intermediaries.

As a reminder, the U.S. and Iran may hold talks on ending the war on March 26.
