South Korea forecasts heat of up to 36 degrees despite rain — Korea Herald
Rain is forecast in parts of South Korea on Tuesday, but it will not bring lasting relief from the heat: daytime temperatures in some areas may reach 36 degrees Celsius. According to The Korea Herald, citing the Korea Meteorological Administration, hot and humid weather will persist in the capital region and Gangwon Province despite intermittent rainfall.
Precipitation in the capital region
Rain is expected in parts of the capital region and Gangwon Province until 9 p.m., and in North Chungcheong Province until 6 p.m. Between 5 and 60 millimeters of precipitation may fall in northeastern Gyeonggi Province and inland and mountainous areas of northern Gangwon Province.
Seoul, Incheon, other parts of Gyeonggi Province, as well as central and southern inland areas of Gangwon Province, are forecast to receive 5–40 millimeters of rain. The central and northern coast of Gangwon Province may receive 5–20 millimeters of precipitation, while northern areas of South and North Chungcheong provinces may receive 5–30 millimeters. The rain may be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
Temperatures to exceed the seasonal norm
After the precipitation stops, heat and high humidity will quickly return. Usually, temperatures in the country at this time range from 19–23 degrees at night to 26–30 degrees during the day, but current readings are forecast to remain above seasonal levels.

Tuesday's daytime highs are expected to range from 31 to 36 degrees. Temperatures of up to 32 degrees are forecast in Seoul and Suwon, and up to 31 in Incheon. In Gangneung, Daejeon and Sejong, temperatures may rise to 34 degrees; on Jeju Island, also to 34 degrees; and in Gwangju, Daegu, Ulsan and Busan, to 35 degrees. The highest readings, up to 36 degrees, are forecast in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, and Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province.
Fog and high waves
Dense fog with visibility of less than 200 meters is possible in inland areas of North Jeolla Province on Tuesday morning. In other inland areas and along the west coast, visibility may drop to less than one kilometer.
Winds of 30–70 kilometers per hour and waves 2–4 meters high are forecast at sea south and east of the country. This may lead to high-wave warnings. Fine dust levels nationwide are expected to range from good to moderate.
