Residents of Poland's border regions will receive follow-up alerts about Russian attacks on Ukraine
The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration will send repeat alerts to residents of the Lublin and Podkarpacie regions regarding massive Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian territory.
On the night of September 8, residents of the border regions had already received four such text messages, the first of which arrived around 4:30 a.m. The Polish ministry emphasizes that it is better to err on the side of caution than to miss important information, and that the main goal of these alerts is to keep citizens vigilant.
According to ministry spokesperson Karolina Halecka, during massive airstrikes it is difficult to immediately determine the direction of drones or missiles, but the authorities do not assume they are heading toward Poland right away. If the aerial objects do cross the border, people will receive additional alerts.

During the massive Russian air attack on Ukraine, Poland scrambled combat aircraft, placed its air defense forces on high alert, and activated radar surveillance systems. In the city of Lublin, air raid sirens also sounded for several minutes.
Polish F-16 fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea. According to the Polish Ministry of Defense, the aircraft was flying in international airspace without a flight plan and with its transponder turned off, but did not violate the country’s airspace.
