Saudi FM urges Iran to reconsider misjudgements as attacks yield no gains

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud sharply criticized Iran and confirmed attacks on two of the kingdom’s oil refineries. He stated that Iran violates fundamental Islamic principles, the most important of which is not to attack fellow Muslim neighbours.

Prince Faisal emphasized that Iran’s attacks will bring no benefits and will only worsen regional tensions. At the same time, he pointed out that Saudi Arabia has responded with strikes on Iranian airbases and territorial waters, highlighting the escalating conflict between the two countries in the Persian Gulf.

Saudi Arabia is a leading global oil producer and a key regional power in the Middle East. Ongoing disputes with Iran complicate energy market stability and the political climate in the Persian Gulf area.

Prince Faisal’s remarks indicate that diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran remain tense, with a high risk of further escalation. These developments could impact the security of global energy supplies.

Further escalation may prompt increased international efforts to stabilise the region and seek diplomatic solutions to ease tensions.
