Moldova, Romania, and the United States have begun the "Fire Shield" military exercises
The joint military exercises “Fire Shield” began in Moldova on September 4 and will continue through September 19.
Military personnel from Moldova, Romania, and the North Carolina National Guard of the United States are participating in the exercises. Specifically, infantry and artillery units, as well as Moldovan carabiniers, are involved.
The exercises are taking place at training grounds in the country’s northern, central, and southern garrisons. Their goal is to strengthen cooperation and operational interoperability among the armed forces of the three countries.
The Moldovan Ministry of Defense has warned of the movement of military equipment on the country’s roads. It will be transported primarily at night.
The “Fire Shield” exercise has been held annually since 2015.

South Korea, Japan, and the United States will hold the “Freedom Edge” joint military exercises from September 9 to 11. The exercises are intended to test the three countries’ readiness to respond to missile and nuclear threats from North Korea.
